While searching for my creativity in my art studio, today, I came across all my art journals with pages and pages of drawings. Each one brought back special memories. Starting from the very first one I drew..... the one which brought a smile to my Mutti's face.

It started out as a nightly routine, one to keep me busy while my Mutti would listen to her evening television programs. Her eye sight had become very bad, and she had become legally blind, but she did enjoy listening to programs on the PBS channel, before her bedtime. During that time I would sit beside her, with a large black sharpie, one sheet of paper and the magic would start. It started with zentangles and progressed into whimsical owls! As I drew them, I would stop to ask my Mutti if she could see the design or shape of the drawing. It would always amaze me, when she nodded, yes, and smiled. With each stroke , I made it darker and eventually every night a new drawing was created. She could spot out the flowers, the owls, and other shapes. After long days of caring for her, it was so relaxing to sit down and draw. Something I never really had done before, but as the days rolled into months, months into years, I looked forward to drawing each night a new whimsical owl. The Owls have done all sorts of activities including, skateboarding, swimming, driving a school bus, snowboarding, drinking coffee, a baker, nothing I couldn't put down and draw on paper..... the owls have lived through it all, one sketch at a time.

Its been years since my dear Mutti has passed away, leaving me with wonderful memories of my drawings. I had hoped to complied a book with them, or create calendar some day. Time has slipped by so quickly, with life bringing new adventures to my Whimsical Owls. I hold on to this dream, for dreams do not have expiration dates....

Joel Osteen once stated, 'Have faith that no matter where you are in life no matter what comes against you, you are not alone. You are not forgotten. God remembers you. He remembers the dreams He’s put on the inside.'
